CyberNova 2026 – Cybersecurity Awareness Month Valedictory

CyberNova 2026, the Cybersecurity Awareness Month, was organised by the Department of Cyber Security from 22.09.2026 to 01.10.2026 as a series of 12 activities (6 offline and 6 online) under the theme “Build a Safer Digital Tomorrow”. The month began with an inauguration on 22.09.2026, where Mr. Godwin Josh, Founder, RipeFlow LLC, delivered an awareness session on current cybersecurity challenges and digital threats.

Anti-Drug Awareness Programme - Break the Chain: Empowering a Drug-Free Generation

The Departments of LCS and Psychology organised "Break the Chain", an interactive session, a student drama and an anti-drug pledge to educate and empower youth against substance abuse.

Students from various colleges took part and showcased their talents in this energetic dance event, which brought together performers to display their passion, creativity, rhythm and stage presence.

CYNEX 2026 – Cooking Without Fire

The Department of Cyber Security organised the inter-college event “Cooking Without Fire” as part of the Second National Level Symposium, CYNEX 2026. The event encouraged students to showcase their creativity, innovation and culinary talent without the use of fire.

CYNEX 2026 – Hackathon

As part of CYNEX’26 – 2nd National Level Symposium, the Department of Cyber Security organised a Hackathon on 26 September 2026 at the Hi-Tech Hall, with the participation of 78 students. The hackathon gave participants an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, creativity and teamwork to develop innovative solutions for the given challenges.

CYNEX 2026 – IPL Auction

The IPL Auction was conducted as part of CYNEX 2026 on 26.09.2026 as an engaging, management-based activity that simulated the real Indian Premier League auction process. Participants experienced the role of franchise owners and made strategic decisions while building their own cricket teams.

As part of the CYNEX 2K26 Symposium, the Department of Cyber Security organised the Paper Presentation event on 26.09.2026. The event gave participants a platform to present their innovative ideas, research findings and technical knowledge on various emerging topics related to technology and cybersecurity.

The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram, organized a Beat Visit to the Secretariat, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, at St. George's Fort on 7th September 2026 for BA JMC students. The visit gave students first-hand exposure to political journalism by observing legislative proceedings and the Secretariat's functioning, helping them develop a reporter's perspective and connect classroom learning with real-world political beat reporting.

The Department of Commerce, School of Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, is organising a 7-Day International Online Hands-on Research Workshop on "From Research Idea to Scopus Publication: AI-Driven Strategies for Publishing in High-Impact Journals" from 31 August to 6 September 2026, featuring seven expert sessions by national and international academicians covering AI-driven research gap identification, literature review, methodology design, data analysis (SPSS, SmartPLS, AMOS), academic writing, journal selection, and manuscript refinement—aimed at strengthening research culture and enhancing scholarly publication competencies among faculty, research scholars, and students.

Hemalatha, Senior Technical Lead – Cloud Domain (Salesforce), HCLTech, who shared insights on AI and cloud computing's growing role in cybersecurity, industry trends in threat detection and data protection, and the importance of continuous learning, certifications, and hands-on experience for building a career in the field, concluding with an engaging Q&A session.

Brand Building – Hands-on Workshop on Data Visualization using Power BI

As part of the Brand Building initiative of the Department of Data Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology – Ramapuram Campus, a one-day hands-on workshop titled "FutureViz: Exploring Data Visualization with Data Studio and Career Opportunities" was conducted for XI and XII students of Shri Krishnaswamy Matriculation Hr. Ramya Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Data Science, FLABS, SRMIST, who explored how interactive digital simulations and accessible tools like Teachable Machine can make scientific and mathematical concepts more visual, exploratory, and experiential, encouraging participants to adopt technology-enabled, hands-on approaches for engaging and effective teaching-learning practices.

The Department of Commerce (PA, ISM, IAF & SF), School of Humanities, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a 6-day Bakery Training from 24th to 29th August 2026 in collaboration with the Central Palmgur & Palm Products Institute, KVIC (Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India), Chennai. Conducted at SRMIST Ramapuram from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for 41 students, the programme offered hands-on practice in over 15 bakery items such as biscuits, cookies, puffs, cakes, and bread, equipping participants with practical skills and entrepreneurial exposure, along with a Govt. of India certificate.

The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized "Animal Cell Craft – 2026 (AC²–'26)," a three-day national-level hands-on workshop on Animal Cell Culture Technology from 19th to 21st August 2026 at the PG Research Laboratory (E-Block), in association with SRM Diagnostics. Open to UG/PG students, research scholars, faculty, and industry professionals, the workshop covered media preparation, mammalian cell culture maintenance, cell viability assays, MTT cytotoxicity testing, wound-healing assays, and fluorescence staining for apoptosis detection, equipping participants with practical laboratory skills and research applications in cell culture.

Literary Criticism and Theory: Classical Foundations and Contemporary Perspectives

The Department of Language, Culture and Society organized a guest lecture on “Literary Criticism and Theory: Classical Foundations and Contemporary Perspectives” on 19 August 2026 for B.A. and M.A. English students. The session, delivered by Dr. H. Abdul Hadi, Associate Professor, The New College, Chennai, aimed to provide students with insights into classical literary theories and contemporary critical approaches, enriching their understanding of literary studies.

International Research Workshop on “Cyber Security Research: Emerging Trends and Practical Perspectives”

The five-day "Campus Innovators and Startup Enablers Programme" (18–22 August 2026), organized by the Department of Commerce, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, brought together entrepreneurs and industry experts to guide UG/PG Commerce students through startup pitching, entrepreneurial journeys, pitch deck preparation, and investor readiness, culminating in a Student Pitch Day where shortlisted teams presented ideas before a jury panel—successfully fostering innovation, practical business skills, and entrepreneurial aspirations among participants.

Seven Days FDP - Advancing Research Excellence: From Research Design to Patent Filing

A seven-day online Faculty Development Programme with seven resource persons, covering research problems and gaps, research design and ethics, AI tools, scientific writing, high-impact publishing, research visibility, and IPR and patent filing; 417 participants.

International Faculty Development Program–Emerging Trends in Data Science and Intelligent Systems

The Department of Data Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology – Ramapuram Campus, organized a six-day International Faculty Development Programme on "Emerging Trends in Data Science and Intelligent Systems" from 17 to 22 August 2026 in online mode. The programme covered progressive themes including cloud computing, data science fundamentals, AI and machine learning, healthcare applications with wearable technologies, interdisciplinary AI research, and graph learning for anomaly detection, enhancing participants' knowledge and encouraging integration of these emerging technologies into teaching, research, and interdisciplinary academic pursuits.

"TAXPRO 2026: Modern Tax Procedures" A One-Week Online Workshop on Modern Tax Procedures

The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, through its Taxation & Compliance Club, organized a One-Week Online Workshop titled "TAXPRO 2026: Modern Tax Procedures" from 17th to 23rd August 2026. Six distinguished academicians and industry experts covered key areas including the Indian tax system, income tax concepts and procedures, GST registration and returns, and tax assessments and appeals, culminating in an interactive case study and valedictory session, equipping students with strong conceptual and practical knowledge in taxation and compliance.

NSS Orientation Programme “Inspiring Youth, Serving Society, Building the Nation”

The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an NSS Orientation Programme on 12 August 2026 to introduce students to the vision, activities, and responsibilities of NSS. The Joint Faculty Development Programme on “Indian Knowledge Systems for Cognitive Science, Engineering, Technology, Governance, and Spirituality” was organized by Electronics & ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, in collaboration with SRMIST, Ramapuram, from 10 to 21 August 2026 in online mode. The programme focused on Indian Knowledge Systems, cognitive science, technology, governance, spirituality, and their integration into higher education and interdisciplinary research.

Journal Club: Journal Metrics

The Department of Data Science, FLABS, SRMIST organized a Journal Club session on "Journal Metrics: Understanding Quality, Impact and Strategic Journal Selection" on 8th August 2026, led by Dr. R. Renuga Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Data Science, who explained key indexing databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE) and journal metrics such as Journal Impact Factor, CiteScore, SJR, quartiles (Q1–Q4), h-index and i10-index, while emphasizing the importance of verifying journal quality, avoiding predatory publications, and making informed journal-selection decisions to strengthen research visibility and institutional research impact.

Faculty Immersion Programme (FIP) on “Tax Audit and ERP Systems”

The second round of the day began with Ms.Raghavi and Ms.Saishree, the Emcee, extending a warm welcome to the participants and briefing the audience about the format and rules of the round 2 competition.
