First Year Orientation Programme
Summary of the Event:
The Orientation Programme was organised to familiarize the students with Academic procedures, Departmental activities, facilities available in the Campus and to motivate them for a productive academic journey.
Day 1(09.07.2026):
To extend a warm and cordial welcome, the Department presented chocolates to the first-year MCA students on their inaugural day of the academic programme as a token of goodwill, encouragement, and best wishes for a successful academic journey.
Prominent Alumni of the College , Mr.Praveen , Mr.Hemanth and an Industry expert Mr.Karthikeyan were invited to address the students. Mr.Praveen(Batch 2023-2025) , placed in the BU Softek , Chennai as Associate Software Engineer gave an awareness on the Industry needs. He spoke on the topic Success behind marque offers. The speaker emphasized that creativity, professionalism, and a customer-focused approach are essential for effectively implementing promotional strategies and achieving successful outcomes.
Mr.Hemanth (Batch :2024-2026) , got a remarkable offer through the placement cell of the college and now placed in TCS as System Engineer. He gave a talk on the topic Awareness on exposure to skill Developing courses during student Life and guided the students about how to manage their academic work and also develop themselves to meet industry needs.
Mr.Karthikeyan , Co-founder & Chief operating Officer, BUSoftTech, Chennai gave a talk on Industry expectations for securing placement offers. The speaker highlighted the significance of adaptability, teamwork, and a positive attitude in securing rewarding placement opportunities and achieving long-term career success.
An awareness session was conducted by the Placement Coordinator Mr.Monish. He stated that the placement cell aims to equip the students with the skills, confidence and direction needed to step into the corporate world. He also mentioned that they prepare MCA students to meet the demands of the evolving IT and tech industry by guiding them to become not only efficient programmers but also effective communicators.
Day 2(10.07.2026):
The second day of the Orientation Programme commenced with an insightful alumni talk, setting an inspiring tone for the day's proceedings.
Notable Alumni of the College Ms.Aswini and Ms.Annat Tina (Batch: 2023-2025) and presently the research scholars of SRM started the day with their inspiring speech about their academic journey.Ms.Aswini shared her academic journey, highlighted the opportunities available on campus, and encouraged the first-year students to remain dedicated, actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities, and make the best use of the resources provided by the institution.Ms.Annat Tina captivated the audience by sharing her journey from being a first-year student to pursuing advanced research.
Mr.Mathan Kartheesan, is an Senior Industry expert. He is a Technical Leader in Object Automation Systems Solutions Pvt. Ltd. His topic is Recent Technological development and Career Oppurtunities in Industries. The speaker provided valuable insights into recent technological developments and their transformative impact across various industries. Emphasizing the growing demand for emerging skills, the session highlighted diverse career opportunities in fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, automation, and sustainable technologies. Mr.Rahul from the same Company spoke on the rapid advancements in technology and their influence on modern industrial practices. The speaker emphasized the importance of adapting to technological changes and acquiring the skills required to succeed in a competitive and innovation-driven job market. Mr.Rajendra from object automation gave a session where the speaker shed light on the remarkable advancements in technology that are redefining the industrial landscape. The session emphasized how innovations in digital transformation, automation, and intelligent systems are creating new avenues for professional growth and career development.
Finally, the convenor of the programme,Dr.S.Meenakshi, proposed vote of thanks and Dr.R.Agusthiyar, Head, Department of MCA honoured the guests with a momento and ended the programme.
