Khazima M Basha a young Carrom player from Chennai brought international honour to the country last November. Khazima M Basha beat world champion Rashmi Kumari from Biharto bag the Women’s Singles title in the sixth Carrom World Cup tournament held in San Francisco, USA. The seventeen-year-old who studies at Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College swept the competition, clinching Gold medals in all three categories – Singles, Doubles and Team, a remarkable feat showcasing her aggressive play and dedication, earning her accolades and support from the Tamil Nadu government.
Khazima shared her journey filled with struggles and achievements along with her Coach & Father Mahaboob Basha.
Key Achievements:
• World Champion: Won multiple gold medals at the 2024 Carrom World Cup (singles, doubles, team).
• Youngest Champion: At 18 years old (at the time of winning), she was the youngest player to claim the women’s world title.
• National Success: Previous National Champion (2017, 2018) and State & Junior/Sub-Junior champion.

• From Chennai: Hails from North Chennai, learning from her father, Basha, a former district player.
• Dedication: Trained intensely, reportedly up to 12 hours daily, to prepare for the championship.
