The Department of Computer Science and Applications (BCA & BCA Gen.AI), SRMIST Ramapuram, held an Expert Talk on “AI in Education” on 03 October 2025 at St. John’s Senior Secondary School, Mandhavelli. Ms. Adyasha Samal addressed 30 participants, explaining AI tools for personalized learning, automated administration, assessment support, and ethical/data-privacy concerns. The interactive session boosted educators’ understanding of adaptive learning and strengthened institutional collaboration, aligning with SDG 4 and SDG 9.

Workshop on Cyber Security Tools & Techniques – A Digital Security Guard (Skill Elevation Program)

The Department of Computer Science and Applications held a Workshop on Cyber Security Tools & Techniques – "A Digital Security Guard" (Skill Elevation Program) on 18 March 2026 in Block 5 (4th Floor Lab). Convened by Dr. S. Uma Shankari with coordinators Dr. S. Suganya and Mr. D. Jocil, the workshop drew 53 participants and covered core cybersecurity topics such as vulnerability assessment, network security, and incident response.

Code Enthus Club

The Department of Computer Applications hosted a Code-a-thon (“Code Enthus Club”) on 05 March 2026 (09:00–12:00) in Block V BCA Lab. Thirteen teams (37 students) tackled 50 programming problems across C, C++, Python, and Java in a 3‑hour competitive event that boosted coding skills, teamwork, and problem-solving, aligning with SDG goals for quality education and employability.

CODEWAVE’26 — Campus Code League, a two-day national hackathon organized by the Department of Computer Applications (BCA & BCA‑Gen AI), SRMIST Ramapuram, was held on 10–11 March 2026 at Hi‑Tech Hall. Forty‑nine teams (196 participants) from various colleges competed across Hardware and Software tracks (AI & ML, Full Stack). Expert speakers from iDataMind and Inspire Group inaugurated the event.

3 Days Hands On Skill Elevation Program On Cloud Computing

A 3‑day Hands‑on Skill Elevation Program on Cloud Computing was held 10–12 Sept 2025 (09:00–15:00) in the 4th‑floor Lab for II BCA & II BCA‑Gen AI students. Led by C‑DAC experts, the workshop combined lectures and practical labs on IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, cloud deployment and management, and real‑world use cases—sharpening students’ cloud skills, industry readiness, and professional networking.

National Intercollegiate Symposium CASYUM 2025

CASYUM 2025, the National Intercollegiate Symposium organized by the Department of Computer Science and Applications (BCA) at SRMIST Ramapuram, was held on 25 September 2025 at TRP Auditorium with 364 participants. The one‑day event featured technical contests (Tech Quiz, Debugging, Paper Presentation, Hackathon), creative competitions (Poster Design, Short Film, Photography, Adzap), and e‑sports tournaments (BGMI, Free Fire, Smash Karts).

Seminar on Emerging Cyber Threats and Preventive Measures

A seminar on "Emerging Cyber Threats and Preventive Measures" was held on 01 Sept 2025 (09:00–11:00) at AV Hall, Block V, organized by the BCA department. Cybersecurity expert Sharika Nowsheen addressed 100 participants on modern threats (ransomware, targeted attacks) and practical defenses (patching, updates, network hygiene), boosting awareness and readiness for cyber careers.

Interdepartmental Technical Fest-Byteblitz’26

Byteblitz’26, an interdepartmental technical fest held on 16 March 2026 at Hi‑Tech Hall‑2, featured competitions like SparkTank, ByteBattle, Brand Blitz and ReCraft, engaging 50 participants in creative, technical, and sustainable challenges while promoting skill development and innovation.

Awareness Program On Ethical And Safer Use Of Internet

The Department of Computer Applications (BCA & BCA Gen AI) organized an Awareness Program on Ethical and Safer Use of Internet on 13 February 2026 at Block V, Gallery Hall 1, with 120 participants. The session focused on digital safety, ethical internet practices, phishing and password security, cyber hygiene, and career awareness in cybersecurity, helping students build safe online habits and digital literacy.

Hackathon Insights

Hackathon Insights was held on 11 February 2026 at Block V, Room 104 for I BCA and BCA GenAI students. The session featured senior students sharing practical hackathon experiences, skill-building tips, and career benefits, helping juniors understand how to prepare for and confidently participate in technical competitions.

Industry Institute Conclave

The Industry Institute Conclave was held on 16 March 2026 at TRP Auditorium and brought together 410 participants from academia and industry. Featuring expert speakers from Fractal Analytics, Ford, and Dream One Studio, the event focused on AI, analytics, VR/AR, sustainability, and industry–academia collaboration, while also identifying skill gaps and strengthening partnerships for future academic and professional growth.

Zyren 2k26 (24 Hours Hackathon)

The hackathon provided a practical platform for students to apply cybersecurity and technical knowledge to solve real-world problems. Participants enhanced their skills in teamwork, time management, and collaborative problem-solving during the 24-hour challenge. Exposure to industry experts like Nixon Ebenezer and the judging panel helped students understand current technology trends and expectations. The multi-stage evaluation process encouraged innovation, as only the most promising ideas advanced to the final round and presentations. The event boosted students’ confidence, creativity, and motivation to participate in future technical competitions and pursue innovation-driven learning

Industrial Visit

An industrial visit to Edinz Tech Private Ltd was conducted on 13 February 2026 for 151 students of BCA and BCA Gen AI. The visit gave participants practical exposure to SDLC, industry tools, Agentic AI, and real-world software development practices, while also creating awareness about career opportunities and current industry expectations.

International Women’s Day Celebration – Seminar on “Empowering Women: Leadership, Innovation and Social Transformation

The session was conducted for II Year B.Sc. Cyber Security students with the objective of guiding them in shaping meaningful career paths while upholding ethical principles and human values. The programme emphasized experiential learning and industry awareness aligned with Sustainable Development Goals by encouraging responsible professional conduct and innovative thinking.

PROMPT HOUSE’26

The second round of the day began with Ms.Raghavi and Ms.Saishree, the Emcee, extending a warm welcome to the participants and briefing the audience about the format and rules of the round 2 competition. Participants actively took part in the event by selecting prompts and creating their own audio versions with unique perspectives. Each participant presented their redesigned prompts to the audience, explaining the concept and creativity behind their work. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and innovative ideas, which reflected the artistic and technical skills of the students.

CyberGenAI’2026

CyberGenAI’2026 was a two-part international conference on cybersecurity and generative AI held on 13 March 2026 at TRP Auditorium, organized by SRMIST Ramapuram with international academic partners. With 198 papers submitted and 96 accepted, the event featured expert talks, research presentations, and discussions on AI security, ethical use, and future research directions, strengthening global collaboration and innovation.

Journal Club Event on Roadmap of Research Methodology

The Journal Club Event on “Roadmap of Research Methodology” was held offline on 18 December 2025 for 65 participants from the Department of Computer Science and Applications (BCA & BCA Gen AI). Guided by Dr. S. Umarani, the session explained the research process from problem identification to report writing, along with literature review, research design, data collection, sampling, analysis, and ethics, helping students build a strong foundation for academic research.

Two Days Hands-on Workshop on Vibe Coding Tools – Kiro and Cursor

The two-day workshop on “Vibe Coding Tools – Kiro and Cursor” was held on 5–6 March 2026 at the Block V 4th floor lab for 30 participants. It introduced students to AI-assisted coding, hands-on use of Kiro and Cursor, and practical website/portfolio development, helping them improve programming productivity, creativity, and industry-relevant skills.

Information Security Education in association With NSS

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with NSS, organized an Information Security Education program on 5 December 2025 at Block V, 4th Floor, Lab 2, to mark World Computer Literacy Day. The session raised awareness about cyber safety, responsible internet use, and digital literacy, and 55 students actively participated in the program.

Offline Quiz Competition

The Department of Computer Applications (BCA & Gen AI) organized an Offline Quiz Competition 2026 on 16 February 2026 at 4th Floor Lab 1 for 10 teams. The quiz covered programming, IT and internet knowledge, famous scientists in computer science, and tech fun facts, helping students improve their technical knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking.

Portfolio Briefing

Portfolio Briefing was held on 06 February 2026 at Block V, Room 104 for 70 II BCA and BCA GenAI students. Final-year students guided their juniors on building strong portfolios, resumes, blogs, and personal webpages using tools like Overleaf and Haveloc, making the session practical, interactive, and useful for placement preparation.

A One Day Workshop on Research Methodology was held on 23 February 2026 at Block V, Room 102 for 70 III BCA students. Dr. S. Sindhu Devi introduced the basics of research, research problems, hypotheses, and data interpretation through clear examples, giving students a practical foundation for academic projects and future research work.

The Code Enthus Club of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a One-Day Workshop on Generative AI on 10 September 2024 for first-year MCA and MCA (Gen AI) students. One day seminar on Climate Change

The Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a One-Day Seminar on Climate Change on 30 July 2024 at the TRP Auditorium for MCA students. The seminar was delivered by Mr. Deepak Venkatachalam, Environmentalist from Suzhal Arivaom.
