Faculty Immersion Programme (FIP) on “Tax Audit and ERP Systems”

SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

1. Introduction

The Department of Commerce – PA, ISM, IAF & SF, School of Humanities, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, successfully conducted a Faculty Immersion Programme (FIP) on “Tax Audit and ERP Systems” on 08 August 2026. The programme was organised in association with Hrudyaa AdConSer Private Limited with the objective of providing faculty members with practical exposure to contemporary tax audit practices, updated taxation systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems used in industry.

2. Session I – Tax Audit and Current Tax Systems

The first session was delivered by Mr. Vinog, Chartered Accountant. He provided an insightful and practical overview of Tax Audit and contemporary taxation systems. The session covered practical dimensions of tax audit, documentation and compliance requirements. Particular emphasis was placed on the challenges faced by professionals in tax audit and the recent updates and developments in current tax systems. The interaction helped faculty members understand the changing taxation environment and practical issues encountered in tax audit and compliance.

3. Session II – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems

The second session was delivered by Mr. Karthikeyan, Chartered Accountant. He explained the history and evolution of ERP systems and discussed their growing importance in modern business organisations. The session covered the advantages of ERP, including integration of business functions, accounting operations, information management and reporting. The resource person also explained the limitations and challenges associated with ERP implementation and adoption.

4. Key Outcomes

• Enhanced understanding of practical Tax Audit procedures and statutory compliance.

• Awareness of recent developments and updates in taxation systems.

• Better understanding of challenges in tax audit and compliance practices.

• Knowledge of the history and evolution of ERP systems.

• Understanding of the advantages, limitations and implementation challenges of ERP systems.

• Strengthened industry–academia interaction and professional exposure.

• Scope to integrate contemporary industry practices into classroom teaching and student learning.

 

5. Conclusion

The Faculty Immersion Programme on “Tax Audit and ERP Systems”, organised by the Department of Commerce – PA, ISM, IAF & SF, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, in association with Hrudyaa AdConSer Private Limited, was successfully completed. The expert sessions by Mr. Vinog, Chartered Accountant, and Mr. Karthikeyan, Chartered Accountant, provided valuable practical insights into taxation, tax audit and ERP systems. The programme contributed significantly to faculty professional development, industry exposure and the integration of practical knowledge with academic teaching.
