Financial Skills for Young Children

 SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

The Department of Commerce (PA, ISM, IAF & SF), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organized a Student Skill Development Program on "Financial Skills for Young Children" on 31 July 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at East Block 110. The session was delivered by Dr. T. Vijayakumar, Director, SEBI SMART Organisation, an expert in financial literacy and investor education.

The programme aimed to enhance students' understanding of financial literacy and equip them with the knowledge required to educate young children on essential money management skills. The resource person highlighted the importance of developing sound financial habits from an early age and explained fundamental concepts such as saving, budgeting, responsible spending, goal-based financial planning, and the basics of mutual fund investments. The session also emphasized the role of financial collaboration among educational institutions, parents, and society in nurturing financially responsible future citizens.

The programme was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and clarifying their queries related to personal finance and investment awareness. The session successfully strengthened students' financial knowledge while encouraging them to become ambassadors of financial literacy within their families and communities.
