The Department of Language, Culture & Society, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organized a two-day Orientation Programme for the newly admitted First Year B.A. English students (2026–2027 Batch) on 9th and 10th July 2026. The programme was designed to familiarize students with the academic environment, institutional culture, and the diverse opportunities available throughout their undergraduate journey.

The orientation commenced with sessions by the department faculty, introducing students to the B.A. English curriculum, academic regulations, learning resources, departmental activities, and expectations for academic excellence. Students were encouraged to actively engage in classroom learning, research, co-curricular activities, and personality development initiatives.

The programme featured a series of expert sessions by eminent academicians and professionals. Dr. Sridevi T, Associate Professor, introduced students to the vision of the department and the importance of building a strong academic foundation. Dr. Karthiyabanu, CEO & Founder of Inspire Softech Solutions, motivated students to cultivate innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills. Ms. Annama Reddy Chamundeshwari, Student Counsellor, highlighted the significance of emotional well-being, counselling support, and maintaining a healthy balance between academic and personal life. Mr. Monishraaj, Placement Officer, provided insights into placement opportunities, employability skills, internships, and career planning.

On the second day, Ms. Sudha Vasudevan, Public Relations Operations Head, Solique Advisors, shared practical knowledge on professional communication, corporate etiquette, and personal branding. Dr. Abraham Benjamin Samuel, Assistant Director of International Relations, introduced students to international education opportunities, student exchange programmes, and global collaborations. Mr. Mukunthvedantkar, Manager, Aviate Group of Companies and distinguished alumnus of the B.A. English programme, inspired students by sharing his academic journey and professional experiences. Mr. S. Shanmuganathan, Campus Life Co-ordinator, familiarized students with various campus engagement initiatives, clubs, student activities, and support services available at SRM IST.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which students actively engaged with the speakers, clarified their queries, and gained valuable insights into academic success, career development, and holistic growth. The Orientation Programme served as an enriching platform that helped students confidently begin their undergraduate journey while fostering motivation, belongingness, and a clear understanding of the opportunities available at SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
