The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at SRM Institute of Science and Technology successfully organized a Voting Awareness Campaign on 16 March 2026 at Q Café. The programme aimed to promote electoral awareness and encourage responsible democratic participation among students. Special emphasis was placed on educating first-time voters about the importance of exercising their right to vote. Participants were guided on voter ID registration, voting procedures, the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and alternative identification documents required during elections. The campaign also highlighted the significance of media literacy in the digital age. Students learned to identify fake news and distinguish it from verified information during election periods. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and department leadership. It fostered awareness about informed decision-making and responsible citizenship. Overall, the campaign successfully promoted civic responsibility, digital literacy, and active participation in the democratic process.
