Bridge Course on International Accounting and Finance

 

Objectives of the Event

  •        To provide students with a strong foundation in International Accounting and Finance concepts.
  •      To bridge the gap between academic curriculum and globally recognized professional accounting practices.
  •      To familiarize students with the fundamentals of Management Accounting, Accountant of Business, and Financial Accounting.
  •         To enhance students' analytical, decision-making, and financial reporting skills.
  •        To motivate students to pursue professional qualifications and career opportunities in accounting and finance.

SYNOPSIS OF THE EVENT

The Department of Commerce (PA, ISM, IAF & SF), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a Bridge Course on International Accounting and Finance on 16 July 2026 from 1.10 PM to 5.40 PM at Room No. 112.

The programme was designed to equip students with the essential knowledge required for pursuing International Accounting and Finance programmes. The sessions were handled by experienced faculty members:

  •         Dr. J. Sathish Kumar delivered an insightful session on Management Accounting, highlighting the role of management accounting in organizational planning, cost control, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
  •         Dr. T. Rani presented an informative session on Financial Accounting, focusing on accounting principles, preparation of financial statements, and interpretation of financial information.
  •         Dr. K. Gunasekaran conducted an engaging session on Accountant of Business, introducing students to the principles of business accounting, ethics, governance, and the role of accountants in modern organizations.

The sessions incorporated real-world business examples, practical illustrations, and interactive discussions that encouraged active student participation. The programme served as an effective platform for introducing students to international accounting concepts and preparing them for advanced academic learning.

 Outcome:

  •   Students developed a clear understanding of the fundamentals of International Accounting and Finance.
  •   Participants gained practical insights into Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and the role of business accountants.
  •   Students enhanced their analytical thinking and financial decision-making skills.
  •   The programme increased awareness of professional accounting qualifications and global career opportunities.
  •   The bridge course boosted students' confidence and readiness for higher-level accounting and finance courses.

Feedback:

The programme received an overwhelmingly positive response from the participants. Students appreciated the structured delivery of the sessions, practical examples, and interactive teaching methodology adopted by the resource persons. They found the course highly informative and relevant to their academic and career aspirations. Participants expressed that the programme improved their understanding of accounting concepts and requested similar bridge courses, workshops, and expert sessions in the future to strengthen their professional competencies.
