SUMMARY OF THE EVENT 

Dr. S.Mani, Assistant Professor, welcomed the Resource Persons and to provide foundational insights and awareness on current practices, technologies, and applications in business accounting, preparing first-year students for their academic journey in commerce.

SESSION HIGHLIGHTS & RESOURCE PERSONS

The Bridge Course on Financial Accounting for first-year B.Com students featured comprehensive sessions designed to strengthen students' understanding of the fundamentals of accounting. The programme covered key concepts including the introduction to accounting, bookkeeping vs. accounting, accounting principles, accounting concepts and conventions, accounting methods, branches of accounting, and the cash and accrual bases of accounting, thereby providing a strong academic foundation for commerce education. The sessions were conducted by Dr. J. Kumar, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai, and Dr. S. Jayasree, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai, whose expert guidance enabled students to gain both conceptual clarity and practical insights into the field of financial accounting.

TARGET AUDIENCE

All first-year students from the Undergraduate Commerce Department participated enthusiastically in the event. The sessions were highly interactive and appreciated by the students for their practical relevance and clarity.

CONCLUSION

The Bridge Course successfully met its objective of preparing students with an overview of key concepts, industry practices, and technological trends in the field of accounting. The Department of Commerce extends its gratitude to all the resource persons and participants who made this event a success.
