The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, School of Media Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram Campus, organised an outreach programme titled “Visual Odyssey – Photojournalism” at Heartfulness International School, Omega, on 31st July 2026. The session introduced students to the fundamentals of photojournalism and the role of visual storytelling in journalism.

The workshop explored the role of a photojournalist, ethical practices, news values, composition techniques, and the impact of photographs in the media. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students developed their observation skills and gained an understanding of how photographs can document events and communicate powerful stories.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 students of Classes 6 and 7, along with teachers and coordinators. The initiative fostered media awareness, visual literacy, and creative thinking, while strengthening academic and community outreach through meaningful knowledge-sharing.
