Industrial Visit to Broadcast, Media & Cinema Expo 2026
SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO BROADCAST, MEDIA & CINEMA EXPO 2026
The School of Media Studies, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram, organised an industrial visit to the Broadcast, Media & Cinema Expo 2026 on 17 July 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai, with the participation of 100 students. The visit was convened by Dr. V. Prabakaran and coordinated by Mr. Manikandan, Assistant Professor, Film Technology. The expo provided students with an excellent opportunity to gain direct exposure to the latest technologies, equipment, and innovations shaping the broadcast, film, media, and entertainment industries. The exhibition showcased advanced developments in digital cinema, professional broadcasting, film production, post-production, animation, visual effects, virtual production, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, OTT technologies, audio engineering, and digital content creation. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri L. Murugan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, who delivered the inaugural address. The programme was also attended by distinguished guests and industry professionals, including Shri Manoj Paramahamsa, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Government M.G.R. Film & Television Institute; Shri R. Rathnavelu, ISC, Cinematographer; Shri P. C. Sreeram, ISC, Cinematographer; and A. Karthik Raaja, President, Southern India Cinematographers Association (SICA). Students from Visual Communication, Journalism, Film Technology, and related disciplines actively participated in the expo and explored various exhibition zones dedicated to production, broadcasting, post-production, audio, animation, and emerging media technologies. They witnessed demonstrations of professional cinema cameras, broadcasting equipment, LED walls, virtual production systems, professional lighting, audio recording and sound-mixing solutions, editing and colour-grading software, VFX tools, AI-powered content creation technologies, and OTT broadcasting solutions. The students also gained practical exposure to broadcast studio setups, high-end editing workstations, motion graphics, visual effects, virtual reality, augmented reality, and professional audio technologies. Interactions with exhibitors, media professionals, production houses, broadcast engineers, and technology providers enabled students to understand current industry requirements, emerging career opportunities, internship possibilities, technological advancements, and future trends in media production and broadcasting. The industrial visit effectively bridged the gap between classroom learning and professional industry practices, enabling students to relate their academic knowledge to real-world media production workflows. The experience enhanced their understanding of professional filmmaking equipment, broadcast engineering, digital cinema production, post-production technologies, artificial intelligence in media, OTT infrastructure, VFX, animation, and immersive media. The programme also encouraged students to develop industry-relevant technical skills and remain updated with the rapidly evolving media and entertainment sector. The visit contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. Through experiential learning, industry interaction, exposure to innovative technologies, and professional networking, the programme strengthened students' technical knowledge, career awareness, creativity, and industry readiness. Overall, the industrial visit to Broadcast, Media & Cinema Expo 2026 was a valuable academic and professional learning experience that enhanced students' understanding of contemporary media technologies and provided meaningful exposure to the practices and opportunities available in the broadcast, film, and digital media industries.
