Vaak Patuta: Inter_Departmental Oratorical Competitions

The Department of LCS-Hindi organized an Inter-Departmental Hindi Oratorical Competition on 5 August 2026 to enhance students’ communication, public speaking, and critical-thinking skills while promoting linguistic and cultural awareness. The event featured insightful speeches by enthusiastic participants and was judged by Dr. Kuljeet Kour, who motivated students through her expertise and real-life examples.

Inaguration Of Language Elites and Sangamam

The Department of Language, Culture and Society, SRM IST, Ramapuram, inaugurated its literary and cultural clubs, Language Elites and Sangamam, on 31 July 2026 at Block V Gallery Hall III. The event, graced by Mr. K. Shantharam as Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of communication, creativity, cultural awareness, and leadership. The formal induction of various student clubs marked the beginning of a year of engaging literary, cultural, and skill-development activities.

மொழி, பண்பாடு மற்றும் சமுதாயத் துறை, எஸ்.ஆர்.எம் அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப நிறுவனம், இராமாபுரம், 11.12.2025 அன்று "பாரதியார் முத்தமிழ் விழா – 2025" எனும் நிகழ்வை நடத்தியது; சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக பேராசிரியர் அரசு பரமேசுவரன் பங்கேற்று பாரதியின் பெருமைகளை எடுத்துரைத்தார், மேலும் 6.12.25 மற்றும் 9.12.25 ஆகிய நாட்களில் நடைபெற்ற கட்டுரை, கவிதை, ஓவியம், பேச்சு, நடனம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு போட்டிகளில் வென்ற பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்குப் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன, "படித்ததும் படைத்ததும்" இதழும் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

Thanga Raja, Dr. Sougand Akbarian, Dr. Eugene O'Brien, Dr. R. Nandhini, Dr. M. Benzigar, and Dr. Priyanka Tripathi—covering research methodology, hypothesis design, academic publishing, and research ethics, thereby enhancing participants' scholarly rigor and fostering interdisciplinary academic collaboration.

French Pronunciation

The Department of English and Other Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organised a French Guest Lecture titled "Towards Perfect Pronunciation" on 9 October 2025, delivered by Ms. V. Industrial Visit Of Sangamam

எஸ். ஆர். எம். அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பவியல் நிறுவனம், இராமாபுரம், சென்னையில் அறிவியல் மற்றும் மானுடவியல் புலம், ஆங்கிலம் மற்றும் மொழிகள் துறை, தமிழ்ப் பிரிவு - சங்கமம் தமிழ் மன்றம் சார்பாக 26.09.2025 அன்று உலகத்தமிழ் ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனம், தரமணியில் அமைந்துள்ள பழந்தமிழர் வாழ்வியல் காட்சிக் கூடத்திற்குக் களப்பயணம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. ஏறத்தாழ 50 மாணவர்கள் பங்கேற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில், முனைவர் ஆ.மணவழகன் அவர்கள் பழந்தமிழரின் வாழ்வியல் குறித்துச் சிற்றுரையும் ஆவணப் படங்களும் வழங்கினார்.

Chord Crushers

The Language Elites and Sangamam of the Department of English and Other Foreign Languages, FSH, SRMIST Ramapuram, successfully conducted the solo singing contest "Chord Crushers" on 24th September 2025, themed around English Jazz and Tamil Folk to celebrate musical expression and cultural diversity among FSH students. Around 18 talented students were shortlisted for the final round, captivating the audience with their vocal prowess, stage presence, and genre versatility, with Dr. Jabeela Shirlin, HoD, EFL, serving as judge. The event provided a platform for musical self-expression while fostering artistic appreciation, making it a melodious celebration of language through music.

Litphoria 2K25

The Department of English and Other Foreign Languages, FSH, SRMIST Ramapuram, successfully hosted its Intercollegiate Literary Fest "LITPHORIA 2K25" on 19th September 2025 at Hi-Tech Hall II, themed "Zephyra: Myth and Magic on the Wings," exploring Greek Mythology, Fantasy, and Philosophy. The fest drew over 130 students from 10 colleges across Chennai, who participated enthusiastically in six events — Monologia, Graphomarchia, Theatophon, Aletheia, Eikonea, and Syllipsi. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science won the Overall Championship, with SRM IST, Kattankulathur as Runner-up, while the day featured an inaugural address by Dr. Praveen Prabhu J and a valedictory address by Dr. Jayanthi Rajendran, along with prize distribution by the dignitaries. Marked by creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange, LITPHORIA 2K25 stood as a memorable celebration of literature and talent.

Open House – Toastmasters Club

The Department of English & Other Foreign Languages, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram Campus, successfully organized an Open House of the Toastmasters Club for FSH students on 15th September 2025 at Gallery Hall I, Block V. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. J. Jabeela Shirlin, followed by a presidential address from Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dean, FSH, who emphasized the role of platforms like Toastmasters in shaping confident leaders. Mr. Sivashankar Nainar Bernadshaw gave an overview of the Toastmasters movement, while Mr. Anirudh B highlighted the importance of communication skills, and keynote speaker Ms. Priya Ganesh inspired students with her address on self-expression and leadership. Students actively engaged in the interactive session, gaining valuable insights on confidence-building and leadership

Lingualens: Stories That Speak

The Visual Club and Digi Club of the Department of English & Other Foreign Languages, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized "Lingualens: Stories That Speak" on September 11, 2025, at S Block B4, based on the theme "Reality and Illusion." I Year UG students of FSH participated through painting, sketching, and digital art, guided by convenors Ms. Suha N A, Dr. Priyanga P, Dr. Vaishnavi S, and Dr. Harini V, under Event Coordinator Dr. J. Jabeela Shirlin, with Dr. D. Saravanan as judge. The event nurtured creative storytelling, empathy, and critical thinking while enhancing students' ability to interpret visual cues and connect them with narratives.

One Day National Seminar – Voicing the Silenced: Literature, Identity, and Resistance in Contemporary India

The Department of English and Foreign Languages, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRMIST Ramapuram, organized a One Day National Seminar titled "Voicing the Silenced: Literature, Identity, and Resistance in Contemporary India" on 11th September 2025. The sessions were led by Prof. Dr. Jaydeep Sarangi (New Alipore College, Kolkata) and Prof. Dr. Joji John Panicker (CMS College, Kottayam), who spoke on caste, memory, counter-narratives, digital dissent, and the politics of visibility.

அண்ணா நூற்றாண்டு நூலகம், கோட்டூர்புரம், சென்னையில் எஸ்.ஆர்.எம். அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பவியல் நிறுவனம், இராமாபுரம் வளாகத்தின் அறிவியல் மற்றும் மானுடவியல் புலம், ஆங்கிலம் மற்றும் அயல்மொழிகள் துறை, தமிழ்ப் பிரிவு - சங்கமம் தமிழ் மன்றம் சார்பாக 03.09.2025 அன்று (புதன்கிழமை) காலை 9.00 மணி முதல் மாலை 03.30 மணி வரை களப் பயணம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. இதில் 40க்கும் மேற்பட்ட இளநிலை மாணவர்கள் பங்கேற்றனர்.

Field Trip To Connemara Public Library

The Department of English and Other Foreign Languages, Faculty of Science & Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an educational field trip to the Connemara Public Library, Egmore, Chennai, on 24th July 2025 for B.A. English students. small para உலகத் தாய்மொழி தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு, எஸ்.ஆர்.எம். அறிவியல் மற்றும் மானுடவியல் புலத்தின் ஆங்கிலம், மொழிகள் துறை தமிழ்ப் பிரிவு மற்றும் கேம்பஸ் லைஃப் இணைந்து மொழிப்பயிற்சிப் போட்டிகள் மற்றும் சிறப்புக் கருத்தரங்கை நடத்தினர். சிறப்பு விருந்தினரின் ஊக்கமளிக்கும் உரையுடன் நடைபெற்ற இந்நிகழ்வில் 150 மாணவர்கள் ஆர்வமுடன் கலந்து கொண்டு தமிழ்மொழியின் சிறப்பையும் தாய்மொழியின் முக்கியத்துவத்தையும் அறிந்து பயனடைந்தனர்.
