Mr. J. Sathya Narayanan brings over 10 years of combined academic and industry experience in garment manufacturing, merchandising, apparel production, textile processing and fashion marketing. After earning his Master's degree in Costume Design and Fashion, he established a career that effectively integrates academic excellence with practical industry experience.

Prior to joining SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), he served as an Assistant Professor, contributing to curriculum development, student mentoring, departmental administration and various institutional initiatives. His industrial experience as a Sample Merchandiser provided him with hands-on expertise in garment production, product development and merchandising, enabling him to effectively bridge classroom learning with current industry practices.

His teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential and project-based learning that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications, industry interaction, internships and research. He is committed to fostering creativity, critical thinking and technical proficiency, preparing students to excel in the dynamic fashion and apparel industry.

He has published several research papers in UGC CARE and Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting his dedication to research, innovation and academic excellence. He has also contributed significantly to curriculum enhancement, academic quality and institutional development. Through his integrated approach to teaching, research and industry engagement, he continues to inspire students while advancing the academic and professional standards of fashion education.
