Her research spans IoT, cloud computing, MANET routing, and machine learning, and she is passionate about making complex computing concepts accessible to students.

Bio

Dr. S. Mahalakshmi brings over 10 years of teaching and research experience in computer science, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to SRM Institute of Science and Technology. After completing her Ph.D. in Computer Science at St. Peter's Institute of Higher Education and Research in 2023, she has built a career spanning multiple institutions, most recently serving in the Department of Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty's Hindu College before joining SRM in May 2026.

Her research interests include the Internet of Things, cloud computing, MANET routing protocols, and machine learning applications in healthcare, cybersecurity, and urban infrastructure. She holds 3 published patents and has authored 12 books and 1 book chapter, alongside 5 Scopus-indexed and 4 UGC Care-approved journal publications and conference proceedings.

Dr. Mahalakshmi believes computing education is most effective when grounded in practical, hands-on learning, and she structures her courses around real-world problem solving. Over her career, she has handled papers ranging from Operating Systems and Data Structures to Fuzzy Logic and IoT and high-level programming languages, and she remains actively engaged in mentoring students and pursuing collaborative research.
