Dr. M. Sowmya has over a decade of academic, research, and industry experience in the Department of Computer Applications at SRM Institute of Science and Technology. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Bharathiar University, she specializes in Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. Her research interests include image mining, plant disease detection, IoT applications, and intelligent systems, and her academic contributions include publications in reputed journals, conference presentations, and a book on Data Science using Python.

She believes meaningful computing education goes beyond theory and is most effective through experiential, project-based learning. Her teaching approach combines real-world applications, emerging technologies, and collaborative problem-solving to build students’ technical knowledge and analytical skills. Passionate about mentoring, she encourages students to engage in research, innovation, and industry-focused projects, preparing them to excel in higher education, research, and the rapidly evolving technology landscape with confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of purpose.
