Dr. B. Sumithra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus. She is a dedicated statistician and researcher with expertise in Survival Analysis, Statistical Quality Control, Biostatistics, Competing Risk Models, and Machine Learning applications in Statistics. Her research focuses on developing innovative statistical methodologies to address challenges in healthcare, engineering, environmental science, and industrial quality management. She is committed to delivering student-centered, research-oriented education by integrating statistical theory with practical data analysis using modern computational tools such as R, Python, SPSS, and Excel. Through her teaching and research, Dr. Sumithra aims to inspire students to develop analytical thinking, solve real-world problems using statistical methods, and contribute to interdisciplinary research and innovation.

Bio

Dr. B. Sumithra obtained her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Madras in 2022 after completing her M.Phil. in Statistics from Annamalai University, where she graduated as the First Rank holder. She is currently pursuing Postdoctoral Research in Statistical Quality Control at Multimedia University, Malaysia, with research focusing on sound noise pollution and advanced quality control methodologies.

She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus. Prior to joining SRM, she worked as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Statistics at the University of Madras, as a Statistical Consultant at Unnai Research Center, and as an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed College for Women. She also served as a Lecturer at Indira Gandhi College of Arts and Science, Puducherry.

Dr. Sumithra has presented research papers at several national and international conferences in India and Malaysia and has published research articles in peer-reviewed journals covering Survival Analysis, Competing Risk Models, Statistical Quality Control, Machine Learning, and Applied Statistics. Her research aims to bridge classical statistical methods with artificial intelligence to solve real-world problems in medicine, engineering, environmental science, and industrial quality management.
