Bio
Mr. B. Saravanan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Communication at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Visual Communication, M.A. and M.Phil. in Mass Communication. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Visual Communication at SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
With over 18 years of combined academic and industry experience, Mr. Saravanan has developed expertise in multimedia design, graphic design, web design, video editing, photography, animation, and digital media production. Prior to joining academia, he worked as a multimedia designer, web designer, video editor, and photographer, gaining extensive experience in media production and visual communication. His proficiency spans Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, After Effects, Maya, 3ds Max, and a range of multimedia and web technologies. His academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to creative excellence, digital innovation, and media education.
His research interests include multimedia communication, digital media, visual communication, emerging media technologies, advertising, and media education. He has actively participated in professional development programmes, including training in Avid Editing at the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), theatre workshops conducted by the National School of Drama, and media workshops on sustainability and environmental communication. These experiences complement his scholarly and teaching contributions to the field of media and communication studies.
As an educator, Mr. Saravanan adopts a learner-centred and practice-oriented teaching approach that integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning. He emphasizes creativity, technical proficiency, and industry-oriented skills through project-based learning, interactive classroom discussions, and the effective use of digital media technologies. His teaching philosophy is dedicated to nurturing critical thinking, innovation, and professional competence, enabling students to meet the evolving demands of the media and communication industry.
