The Department of Fashion Designing, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology – Ramapuram, organized an Industrial Visit to the Ordnance Clothing Factory (OCF), Avadi on 23 February 2026 for 28 students. The visit offered students an opportunity to observe the complete manufacturing process of defence garments, including fabric inspection, pattern making, cutting, stitching, assembly, finishing, and quality assurance. Students also learned about specialized defence clothing, functional textiles, industrial safety standards, standardized production systems, and modern manufacturing technologies. Interaction with technical experts and factory officials enhanced their understanding of precision-driven apparel production, operational efficiency, and quality compliance. The industrial exposure successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world manufacturing practices, while inspiring students to appreciate the importance of innovation, discipline, and responsibility in technical garment production. Positive participant feedback reflected the effectiveness of the visit in improving industry awareness, practical knowledge, and career readiness in the fashion and apparel sector.
