The Department of Visual Communication, School of Media Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized the International Short Film Festival & Competition – Silver Frames 26 on 24th March 2026 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the TRP Auditorium. The event aimed to provide a platform for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their creativity, storytelling skills, and technical expertise in short filmmaking. The festival encouraged innovation, cinematic expression, and competitive spirit among participants while fostering a deeper understanding of visual narratives.

The competition was organized under three categories – Intra, Inter, and Professional – and received a total of 50 entries. A total of 21 categories of awards were presented to recognize excellence in various aspects of filmmaking. Additionally, four Jury Special Mention awards were given to acknowledge outstanding contributions and unique creative efforts.

The programme was graced by Mr. S. Kathiresan, Film Producer and Director, Founder of Five Star Creations, as the Chief Guest, who shared valuable insights from his industry experience and inspired students with his journey in Tamil cinema. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased a variety of creative short films, making it an engaging and enriching experience for all attendees.

The programme was convened by Dr. V. Prabakaran (Head, Media Studies). The event was arranged and coordinated by Dr. Salai Tamilarasan S and Ms. J. Jenifer, with the support of faculty members and student volunteers, ensuring the successful execution of the festival.
