SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

The Department of Computer Science with Specialization in Cyber Security, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), successfully organized an Outreach Program at Little Drops Old Age Home, Chennai, on 11th July 2026.

The primary objective of the outreach programme was to instill a sense of social responsibility, compassion, empathy, and community service among the students while extending support and care to the elderly residents of the home. The event provided an opportunity for students to interact directly with senior citizens, understand their life experiences, and contribute positively towards their emotional well-being.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the management of Little Drops Old Age Home, followed by an introduction to the institution and its services. Faculty members and student volunteers actively participated in the programme by distributing essential supplies, medicines, groceries, fruits, and refreshments to the elderly residents. The students also spent quality time interacting with the residents through informal conversations, cultural interactions, and recreational activities, creating a joyful and emotionally enriching environment.

The interaction encouraged students to appreciate the values of kindness, gratitude, respect, and service towards senior citizens. The elderly residents expressed immense happiness and gratitude for the thoughtful visit, while the students gained valuable life lessons on humanity, social commitment, and emotional intelligence.

The outreach programme reflected the institution's commitment towards holistic education by integrating academic excellence with social responsibility and community engagement.
