SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
Welcome Address and Guest Introduction
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. R. Agusthiyar, Professor, & Head ,CA-PG MCA & MCA GEN AI.
He welcomed our Deputy Dean Research (FLABS) and introduced the esteemed guest speaker, to the audience. He highlighted his academic achievements and Academic journey as an inspiration for the students.
Inaugural Address by Dr Sivanesan ,Deputy Dean Research (FLABS)
The Journal Club was inaugurated by Dr. Sivanesan, Deputy Dean (Research), FLABS, who emphasized the importance of fostering a strong research culture through continuous learning, critical thinking, and scholarly discussions. He highlighted that Journal Club provides an excellent platform for faculty members and researchers to stay updated with recent advancements, critically analyze research articles, and enhance their research and publication skills. He encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, uphold ethical research practices, and translate research findings into innovative ideas and meaningful academic contributions, while appreciating the organizers for their efforts in promoting a vibrant research environment.
Research Session by Dr. N. Krishnamoorthy
Dr. N. Krishnamoorthy delivered an insightful and informative session on the evolving landscape of cloud security, emphasizing the growing need for advanced security measures as cloud adoption continues to expand across various sectors, including finance, healthcare, and government.
The session highlighted emerging cyber threats such as ransomware attacks, AI-driven phishing, and sophisticated malware, illustrating their impact through real-world case studies, including the 2024 Tamil Nadu data breach. These examples underscored the serious consequences of inadequate cloud security and the importance of implementing robust defense mechanisms.
Dr. Krishnamoorthy also explained the Shared Responsibility Model, clarifying the security obligations of both cloud service providers and users. He further discussed modern cloud security architectures based on Zero Trust principles and Identity and Access Management (IAM), demonstrating how these frameworks help safeguard cloud infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
The session explored recent advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning for cloud security, highlighting the use of deep learning algorithms such as Transformers and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks for accurate intrusion detection and anomaly identification. These intelligent approaches were presented as effective solutions for strengthening proactive threat detection in cloud environments.
The session concluded by outlining future research directions in cloud security, with a focus on privacy-preserving technologies, federated learning, explainable AI, and quantum-safe cryptography. Dr. Krishnamoorthy emphasized that these emerging technologies will play a crucial role in securing next-generation cloud computing environments against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
