Journal Club: Interactive Simulations for Science and Math & Made with Teachable Machine
EVENT REPORT
Interactive Simulations for Science and Math & Made with Teachable Machine
1. INTRODUCTION
A Journal Club presentation on “Interactive Simulations for Science and Math & Made with Teachable Machine” was conducted on 26 August 2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Ramapuram. The session highlighted the use of interactive digital simulations and accessible machine-learning tools to support engaging, experiential learning in science and mathematics.
2. PROGRAMME DETAILS
The session was held at the Block 5, Third Floor Lab, at 2:30 PM. Dr. R. Ramya Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Data Science, FLABS, SRMIST, Ramapuram, served as the Resource Person. The programme was conducted in the form of a Journal Club presentation, providing participants with an opportunity to explore technology-supported approaches to teaching and learning.
3. KEY AREAS COVERED
- Interactive simulations as a way to make scientific and mathematical concepts more visual and exploratory.
- Demonstration-oriented learning using digital simulations and interactive resources.
- Use of Teachable Machine to introduce practical, accessible machine-learning concepts.
- Encouraging technology-enabled learning through hands-on observation, experimentation and discussion.
4. LEARNING OUTCOMES
The presentation encouraged participants to view digital tools as practical learning aids rather than merely presentation resources. Interactive simulations can help learners observe concepts dynamically, while simple machine-learning platforms such as Teachable Machine can provide an approachable entry point for understanding how data, examples and models can be connected in an educational setting.
5. PARTICIPATION & ENGAGEMENT
The photographs from the session show an interactive learning environment with participants seated in the laboratory, following the presentation and demonstrations on the large display. The session also reflects active discussion and attention to the digital resources being demonstrated.
6. CONCLUSION
The Journal Club presentation provided a concise and relevant academic forum for exploring interactive simulations in Science and Mathematics along with the educational possibilities of Teachable Machine. The session reinforced the value of experiential, technology-enabled learning and encouraged participants to consider innovative digital methods for explaining concepts and engaging learners.
