SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Ramapuram, Chennai successfully organized the 5th International Conference on “Biotechnological Emergence in Science and Technology (ICBEST-2026)” on 26th and 27th February 2026 in hybrid mode (offline and online). The conference was conducted in association with Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia; INTI International Universities and Colleges, Malaysia; University of Jember, Indonesia; and Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, India.
The conference aimed to bring together researchers, academicians, scientists, industry professionals, and students to discuss recent advancements and innovations in the field of biotechnology. The event provided an international platform to exchange ideas, present research findings, and explore emerging trends in biological sciences and technology.
The conference commenced with the inaugural session, where dignitaries addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research and global collaboration in biotechnology. The event highlighted the role of biotechnology in solving global challenges such as environmental sustainability, healthcare improvement, agricultural productivity, and bioenergy development.
The conference featured invited keynote lectures, technical sessions, oral presentations, and poster presentations covering diverse research areas including genome editing, metabolic engineering, agricultural and plant biotechnology, applied microbial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, bioenergy and
biofuels, nano-biomaterials, bioinformatics, AI and machine learning in biological sciences, pharmacology, and food biotechnology.
Participants from various universities, research institutions, and industries actively presented their research findings and exchanged scientific ideas. The conference proceedings included accepted abstracts which were published with an ISBN, promoting the dissemination of innovative research contributions.
The event successfully facilitated international academic interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, providing an opportunity for participants to gain insights into recent developments in biotechnology and its applications in improving quality of life and promoting sustainable development.
