Event Summary
We, the staff members and student volunteers of the B.Sc. Computer Science and Cyber Security programme, participated in the Outreach Programme organized in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Cheshire Homes India, Chennai
The programme commenced with Outdoor Games for Parents and Children, fostering interaction, inclusivity, and joyful participation among all attendees.
The event formally began with the Lighting of the Lamp, followed by a Prayer Song rendered by Mr. Karthick Ramasubramanian, setting a respectful and positive tone for the day.
Mr. S. Marimuthu, Program Manager, Cheshire Homes India – Chennai, delivered the Welcome Address, warmly acknowledging the gathering and highlighting the importance of celebrating abilities beyond disabilities.
The Inaugural Address was delivered by Mr. S. Ramasubramanian, Honorary Treasurer, Cheshire Homes India – Chennai, who emphasized community support, inclusion, and collective responsibility towards persons with disabilities.
Felicitations were offered by Mr. Kottasamy from SRM NSS, followed by felicitations from SRM University representatives, appreciating the efforts of the organizers, parents, and children.
A Special Address by Mrs. Gayatri from the Parents Association provided valuable insights into parental perspectives, experiences, and the positive impact of therapy and community support.
Parents of Therapy Centre children shared their Feedback, expressing gratitude for the continuous care, therapy services, and encouragement provided to their children.
The programme featured vibrant Cultural Performances by the Therapy Centre children and a Dance Performance by Cheshire Homes residents, showcasing talent, confidence, and joy.
The event concluded with Prize Distribution, SRM Special Events, and a Vote of Thanks, marking a meaningful end to an inspiring and inclusive celebration.
The outreach programme strengthened the bond between the institution and the community, reinforcing values of empathy, inclusivity, and social responsibility among students and faculty members.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our Chairman, Co-Chairman, Director General, Deputy Director, Principal, Vice President – Administration, and Vice President – Academics for their constant encouragement and support towards this outreach activity.
Students and staff members of the department purchased baby towel, hospital bags, half and full pants and other needy things on their own interest for babies in the age group 0-5 years
Students had arranged the purchased items and they interacted with the children. The children were entertained by the students. Everyone actively involved in activities with the children. Children were played with our students. Finally, We took photo with all in the Welfare Society.
