Namma Madras Slogan Contest Department of Journalism & Mass Communication
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, SRM IST Ramapuram, in association with the Madras Literary Society, celebrated the 386th Madras Day on 22 August 2025. As part of the celebration, a slogan contest titled “Namma Madras: Youth Unplugged – Speak Your Mind” was organized. The event encouraged students to creatively express their thoughts and perspectives on the city of Madras. It promoted awareness of the city's rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The contest provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, communication skills, and civic consciousness. Participants enthusiastically engaged in the activity, reflecting on the identity and legacy of Chennai. The programme emphasized the importance of cultural appreciation, community involvement, and responsible citizenship. It also supported experiential learning by connecting classroom knowledge with real-world themes. The collaboration with the Madras Literary Society added academic and cultural value to the event.
