SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

 

The Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organised the Alumni Day celebration titled “Legacy Links – Alumni Meet 2K26” on 26 January 2026 at the OAT Auditorium. The event was conducted with the objective of strengthening the bond between the institution and its alumni, celebrating shared memories, and creating a platform for meaningful interaction between former students, faculty members, and the management. The programme reflected the institution’s commitment to nurturing lifelong relationships with its alumni, recognising their achievements, and encouraging their continued involvement in the academic and professional growth of current students.

The Alumni Meet commenced at 4.00 p.m. with an Invocation, invoking blessings for the success of the programme. This was followed by the Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolising knowledge, enlightenment, and the enduring spirit of learning.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dean (S&H), who warmly welcomed the alumni, dignitaries, and guests. He highlighted the importance of alumni as the backbone of the institution’s legacy and emphasised their role in mentoring and inspiring future generations. Following the welcome address, the Chief Director, Dr. N. Sethuraman, was honoured with a shawl and memento as a mark of respect and gratitude for his visionary leadership and continued support towards alumni initiatives. The Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. S. Usha Menon, Dean – Alumni Affairs, who spoke about the significance of alumni engagement, the objectives of the alumni association, and the importance of strengthening institutional–alumni relationships.

A key highlight of the event was the Release of the Alumni Souvenir titled “Legacy Links”, which documented memorable moments, alumni achievements, and the enduring connection between the institution and its graduates. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. N. Sethuraman, Chief Director, SRM Group of Institutions, who shared his insights on the growth of the institution, the evolving role of alumni in academic excellence, and encouraged alumni to actively contribute to the institution’s future endeavours. The Chief Guest Address was delivered first by Mr. Joel AJ, Senior Technical Executive, Sharp Software Development India, Bangalore. Being an MCA alumnus (2008–2011), he reminisced about his student life, shared industry experiences, and motivated students to stay adaptable, skilled, and value-driven.

This was followed by the Chief Guest Address by Mr. Sugumaran M, Project Manager, RR Donnelley, Chennai. He shared his professional journey, industry expectations, and expressed gratitude towards the institution and faculty for shaping his career. A few alumni then came forward to share their experiences and memories, reflecting on their academic journey, campus life, and the role SRMIST played in their personal and professional development. This session created an engaging and nostalgic atmosphere among the gathering. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. N. Krishnamoorthy, Alumni Coordinator, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management, dignitaries, chief guests, faculty members, alumni, organisers, and student volunteers for their valuable support and participation.

The Alumni Meet 2K26 contributed meaningfully to sustainable development and institutional growth by fostering long-term engagement, knowledge exchange, and collaborative opportunities.
