Yoga for a Healthy Mind and Body
SUMMARY OF THE EVENT
The Department of Commerce, in association with the NSS Unit, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, successfully organized an online awareness programme titled "Yoga for a Healthy Mind and Body" on 25 July 2026 from 6.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. through Google Meet. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, stress management, and healthy lifestyle practices among UG students.
The session was delivered by Dr. Ramya R, Physical Director, K.C.S. Kasi Nadar College of Arts & Science, Chennai. The speaker highlighted the significance of yoga in achieving holistic wellness and explained how regular yoga practice contributes to improved physical health, mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall quality of life. The session included demonstrations of simple yoga postures, breathing exercises (Pranayama), relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices that students could easily incorporate into their daily routines.
The programme witnessed active participation from UG students of the Faculty of Science and Humanities. Students actively engaged with the speaker during the interactive session by clarifying their doubts and discussing the practical benefits of yoga in managing academic stress and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving participants motivated to adopt yoga as a regular practice for lifelong health and well-being.
Outcome of the Event
· Students gained a better understanding of the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance.
· Participants learned simple yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices that can be incorporated into their daily routines for stress management.
