Objective of the Event

The primary objective of the guest lecture on “Importance of Digital Marketing”, organized by the Digital Marketing Club, was to create awareness among students about the growing significance of digital marketing in today’s dynamic business environment. The session aimed to provide students with practical knowledge of how digital platforms and technologies are transforming marketing practices, customer engagement, brand communication, and business growth.

The lecture focused on key areas such as social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing, digital advertising, influencer marketing, email marketing, online branding, and customer engagement through digital platforms. It also highlighted the importance of understanding consumer behaviour, developing digital marketing strategies, creating engaging content, and effectively utilizing digital tools to reach target audiences. The resource person shared valuable insights into current digital marketing trends, industry practices, career opportunities, and the skills expected from students aspiring to build careers in the digital marketing domain.

Through real-world examples, interactive discussions, and practical insights, students were encouraged to understand how businesses use digital channels to promote products and services, build customer relationships, and gain a competitive advantage. The session also motivated students to explore emerging opportunities in digital marketing and develop industry-relevant technical and creative skills.

Overall, the guest lecture enhanced students’ understanding of the importance and practical applications of digital marketing, strengthened their awareness of current industry trends, and encouraged them to develop the necessary skills for pursuing successful careers in the rapidly evolving digital business environment.

The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai Ramapuram, in association with the Digital Marketing Club, organized a Guest Lecture on “Importance of Digital Marketing” on 07.08.2026 from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at Gallery Hall. The programme was organized for UG and PG Commerce students with the objective of creating awareness about the growing significance of digital marketing and equipping students with an understanding of the digital tools, strategies, and skills required in the modern business environment. The session featured Ms. Harini Karunya, Senior Producer at Sun Network, Aspiring AI Digital Marketer, and Ex-ZEEL, who shared her professional experiences, industry insights, and practical knowledge with the students.

The session commenced with an overview of the evolving digital marketing landscape and the increasing role of digital platforms in modern business operations. The resource person explained how businesses have shifted from traditional marketing approaches towards digital channels to reach wider audiences, engage customers, strengthen brand visibility, and improve business performance. She highlighted the importance of understanding changing consumer behaviour and emphasized that digital marketing has become an essential component of business strategy across industries.

During the lecture, the resource person provided practical insights into various dimensions of digital marketing, including social media marketing, content creation, search engine optimization (SEO), digital advertising, online branding, influencer marketing, customer engagement, and emerging AI-based marketing practices.
