The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai Ramapuram, organised a guest lecture on “SAP Essentials for Commerce Students” on 02.07.2026 at 9.30 a.m. for B.Com and M.Com students. The session was delivered by Ms. Thirumagal M, Zone Manager, Tech Maax Computer Education and Placement Training, with the objective of creating awareness about the role of SAP in the modern business and corporate world.

During the lecture, the resource person explained the importance of SAP as a widely used enterprise resource planning system that integrates various business functions such as accounting, finance, sales, procurement, inventory management, and reporting. She emphasised that commerce students must complement their theoretical knowledge with practical exposure to software tools and digital business applications used in professional workplaces.

The session also highlighted the career relevance of SAP for commerce students by explaining its value in fields such as accounting, auditing, taxation, finance, logistics, business analytics, and corporate administration. Students were encouraged to develop technical skills, pursue professional certifications, and stay updated with industry practices to improve their employability.

The programme was highly informative and beneficial, as it helped students understand the practical applications of SAP, the changing expectations of the corporate sector, and the importance of skill-based learning in building successful careers.
