Faculty Immersion Program
Summary of the Event:
The Department of Computer Science with Specialization in Cyber Security organized a Faculty Immersion Program (FIP) at Laya Tech Pvt. Ltd., Nungambakkam, Chennai, on 25 July 2026 (Afternoon). The program was conducted for 15 faculty members and one full-time research scholar, with the objective of providing practical exposure to enterprise cybersecurity technologies, Security Operations Center (SOC) practices, cloud infrastructure, and operational technology (OT) security. The sessions were highly interactive, combining conceptual discussions with live demonstrations using industry-standard cybersecurity platforms.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. P. Anand, Senior Manager – Technical Support, Laya Tech Pvt. Ltd., who introduced the organization's cybersecurity services and highlighted the growing importance of proactive security monitoring, threat intelligence, and managed security services in modern enterprises. He emphasized the need for academia to align teaching methodologies with current industry practices to prepare students for real-world cybersecurity challenges.
Session 1: Endpoint Security and XDR Technologies Resource Person: Mr. Shankar
Mr. Shankar delivered an insightful session on Endpoint Security by explaining the importance of protecting organizational endpoints against sophisticated cyber threats. The session included a live demonstration of Extended Detection and Response (XDR) technologies, illustrating how security events are correlated across multiple endpoints to detect advanced persistent threats.
