Bridge Course for First Year Students : "Evolution for Business Practices (A Gap Between Goal and Accomplishment)"
Objective of the Event
To equip first-year B. Com students with foundational knowledge in commerce, business, and accounting, and to provide an early orientation to academic and career goals. The bridge course was designed to connect students’ aspirations with structured academic insight, making the transition from school to higher education smooth and purposeful.
SUMMARY OF THE EVENT
The bridge course was a focused academic orientation programme conducted for first-year Commerce students to provide a strong foundation in business education and professional development. It featured engaging lectures and interactive sessions delivered by experienced faculty members from the Department of Commerce. Each session was carefully designed to introduce students to fundamental concepts in business management, entrepreneurship, planning and decision-making, digital business transformation, business excellence, and management control.
The initiative aligned with multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). The programme emphasized experiential learning, innovation, entrepreneurship, ethical business practices, and leadership development to prepare students for the dynamic business environment.
The bridge course also highlighted the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) initiatives and value-based education by encouraging students to connect theoretical concepts with practical business applications. The programme successfully inspired students to develop confidence, critical thinking, professional ethics, and a positive mindset as they embarked on their higher education journey in commerce.
