The Department of Fashion Designing has conducted Add- On Course for the final year fashion designing students as a part of curriculum enrichment programme and also as as an MOU activity with AMHSSC and in support with SRM Axis Intellects. 46 students participated in the course. The students have received training on various aspects of the textile industry. The course was conducted for 30 hours. The syllabus was framed by AMHSSC and the department of Fashion Designing Faculties.The details of the 30 hours schedule is as follows


 

DAY 1- 10.03.25 (9.30 pm to2.30 pm)

Students have given training on

●     Apparel garment industry

●     it’s organization structure

●     The five pillars of the industry and about the various departments in the apparel industry

●     the basic qualification and skills of an apparel merchandiser

 

DAY 2- 11.03.25 (9.30 pm to2.30 pm)

Students have given training on

●     How the sampling department works.

●     Sourcing the appropriate fabric, trims and accessories.

●     Role of the Sampling Department in product development.

●     Understanding Tech Packs, patterns and fabric selection..

 

DAY 3 12.03.25 (9.30 pm to2.30 pm)

Students have given training on

 

●     Introduction to apparel production workflow.

●     Understanding different types of garment manufacturing methods (CMT, Full Package, etc.).

●     Production planning, cutting, sewing, and finishing processes.

●     Line balancing techniques for efficient production.

 

DAY 4 -13.10.23(9.30 pm to2.30 pm)

Students have given training on

●     Importance of quality control in apparel manufacturing.

●     Types of quality checks: Inline, mid-line and final inspection.

●     Common garment defects and how to rectify them.

●     Compliance and standards in the apparel industry.

DAY 5 -14.10.23(9.30 pm to2.30 pm)

Students have given training on

●     Understanding fabric, trims and labor costing.

●     Calculation of Cost Per Garment (CPG) and pricing methods.

●     Overheads, profit margins and negotiation strategies.

●     Impact of bulk production on costing.
