International Faculty Development Program–Emerging Trends in Data Science and Intelligent Systems
SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
The Department of Data Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology – Ramapuram Campus, successfully organized a six-day International Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Emerging Trends in Data Science and Intelligent Systems” from 17 to 22 August 2026 in online mode. The programme brought together faculty members, research scholars, academicians, resource persons and invited participants to strengthen their knowledge of contemporary technologies, research practices and intelligent systems.
The FDP covered a broad and progressive range of themes across six days.
Day 1
Introduced Cloud Computing and Modern Web Solutions, including cloud service and deployment models, scalability, applications, security, data privacy and resource management.
Day 2
Focused on the realm of Data Science with emerging technologies, covering the Data Science lifecycle, Python tools, data preprocessing, exploratory data analysis, visualization, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing and Natural Language Processing, along with practical activities.
Day 3
Explored Data Science in Healthcare with Wearable Technologies, highlighting wearable sensor data, healthcare data preprocessing, predictive analytics, IoT-enabled healthcare and real-time monitoring. Day 4, “AI Across Science – A Panorama”, examined the expanding role of AI across scientific and technological disciplines, including healthcare, scientific research, engineering and environmental applications, while emphasizing interdisciplinary research and responsible AI. Day 5 addressed research direction in Machine Learning, with emphasis on emerging trends, literature review, research gaps, problem formulation, novelty, methodology, evaluation, publication and research planning. Day 6 concluded with “From Neural Networks to Graph Learning for Anomaly Detection”, explaining the progression from neural networks and deep learning to graph learning and its applications in complex, interconnected and dynamic systems.
The six-day FDP combined expert lectures, demonstrations, interactive discussions and practical perspectives. It enhanced participants’ understanding of emerging Data Science and AI technologies and encouraged them to integrate these technologies into teaching, research, student projects and interdisciplinary academic activities. The programme also promoted continuous professional development, responsible technology adoption and the identification of meaningful research opportunities.
