Summary of the event

The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized MICROFEST’26 to commemorate International Microorganism Day 2026 from 10–17 September 2026. The event provided school and college students with an engaging platform to explore the significance of microorganisms and their applications in biotechnology through creative and knowledge-based activities such as Micro-Art, Meme Contest, and Micro-Talks on “Microbes in Biotechnology.” The programme encouraged scientific creativity, communication skills, and awareness of the diverse roles of microorganisms in science and society. A total of 98 students from 13 different states across the country enthusiastically participated in MICROFEST’26.

Events

• Micro-Art: portraying an art inspired by microbes (agar art, drawings, 3D art/model, paintings, sketching).
• Meme Contest: creating a meme on microbes.
• Micro-Talks: recording a video of 1–2 minutes about "Microbes in Biotechnology".

Certificates were provided to all the participants.
