Litera’26 (An Inter-Collegiate Student Symposium)

The Department of Language, Culture and Society, organized an Inter-Collegiate Student Symposium titled “Literature, Culture and Media: Intersections and Influences” on 20 February 2026 at Gallery Hall 1. The symposium aimed to provide a platform for students to explore the dynamic relationship between literature, culture, and media through academic discussion and research engagement. The event commenced with the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Suhash Swaminathan, Assistant Professor, Christ University, Bangalore, who highlighted the evolving role of cultural studies in contemporary academia. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. L.R.S. Kalanithi, Associate Professor of English and Dean, School of Languages, Guru Nanak College, Chennai, who appreciated the scholarly efforts of the participants and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research.
Students from various colleges actively participated by presenting research papers on diverse themes related to literature, culture, and media studies. The presentations encouraged critical thinking, academic dialogue, and knowledge exchange among participants. The symposium concluded with the distribution of certificates, and the Best Paper Award was presented to the article titled Lives: Gendered Control and Bodily Violence in Pethavan and Kottukkaali by Ms. Sai Sona. A, to recognize outstanding research and presentation.The event successfully fostered academic collaboration, research skills, and intellectual engagement among students.
