The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, organized a guest lecture on "SAP Essentials for Commerce Students" on 2nd July 2026 at 9:30 AM for B.Com and M.Com students. The session was delivered by Ms. Thirumagal M, Zone Manager, Tech Maax Computer Education & Placement Training.

The resource person introduced students to the fundamentals of SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) and explained its role as one of the world's leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solutions. The session covered the importance of SAP in integrating various business functions such as finance, accounting, sales, procurement, inventory management, and human resources. Students were given an overview of commonly used SAP modules, particularly those relevant to commerce graduates, including SAP Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), and Sales and Distribution (SD).

The speaker highlighted how organizations use SAP to improve operational efficiency, data accuracy, and decision-making. She also discussed the growing demand for SAP professionals across industries and emphasized the career opportunities available for commerce graduates in finance, auditing, consulting, and ERP implementation. Information about SAP certification, required technical skills, placement opportunities, and industry expectations was also shared.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students actively clarified their doubts regarding SAP learning pathways, certifications, and career prospects.
