Profile of the Speakers

1. Dr. Syed Ismail Buhari

Dr. Syed Ismail Buhari is a corporate leadership and life skills trainer, TEDx speaker, and global HR leader with over 20 years of professional experience. He has interviewed and hired more than 10,000 students and professionals, trained nearly 2,000 working professionals, and worked with over 300 clients across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

With extensive expertise in human resources, leadership development, team building, communication, and personality development, he has worked with multinational and Indian organisations across India, Singapore, Dubai, and Indonesia. His focus on positive attitude, inspirational leadership, continuous learning, and professional development makes him an engaging communicator and motivator.

2. VJ Kalyani

VJ Kalyani is a versatile media personality, anchor, television presenter, video jockey, master of ceremonies, actor, personality coach, and speaker. She is known for her work in the Tamil media and entertainment industry and has experience with Sun Network as a radio jockey and master of ceremonies.

She has also appeared in Tamil television productions and joined the cast of Thozhi in 2024. Through her conversational podcast, Poi Solla Porom, she has further explored digital media and audience engagement. Her journey in media and public speaking highlights the importance of communication, confidence, creativity, and personal branding for young learners.

3. Ms. Sony Daffodil

Sony Daffodil is an emerging actor, singer, and performing artist from Chennai. She is a graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai, and gained recognition as the second runner-up in the JOY Chennai Times Fresh Face Season 14 – Chennai Finale in 2023.

She has contributed vocals to Tamil musical projects, including Vaana Veetile from Paper Rocket. In 2026, she expanded into Tamil cinema through Youth and performed the song Paranthene Penne alongside Ken Karunas. Her journey reflects the importance of exploring talent, embracing opportunities, and building confidence through experience.

4. Arun & Aravind

Arun and Aravind are reality show organisers and casting directors with experience in television, advertising, and cinema. They have organised over 200 reality shows across channels, including Vijay TV, Zee Tamil, and Sun Network, and have been involved in casting for more than 50 television advertisements, serials, and movies.

They have coordinated popular shows such as Bigg Boss, Cooku with Comali, Super Singer, and Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru, and have contributed to various film and media projects. Their goal is to discover and introduce young talent to the media industry by creating platforms for aspiring performers to showcase their abilities.

Objectives of the Event

SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

COMMEX’26 – REIGNITE, an Inter-Collegiate Symposium organized by the Department of Commerce, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Business Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai–Ramapuram, was held on 25 September 2026 at the TRP Auditorium from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The symposium was designed around the theme “Ideas Today | Impact Tomorrow”, providing students with opportunities to learn, network, compete and grow through a wide range of commerce, management, innovation and cultural events. The programme aimed to encourage commerce knowledge, innovation, leadership and practical learning among participating students.

The inauguration featured Dr. Syed Ismail Buhari, CHRO – Talent Strategies, Corporate Trainer and TEDx Speaker, and Ms. Kalyani, Telepresenter and Anchor. The valedictory session featured Mr. Arun & Aravind, Reality Show Organizers and Casting Directors, and Ms. Sony Daffodil, Actress.

The symposium included various competitive events such as AI Advertising, Product Photography, Just a Minute, Accounting Crime Scene, Start-up Challenge, Brand Battle Royale, Tax Detective, Data to Decision, Memory Challenge, Best Manager, Escape Room, Market Melodies, Street Art for Change, Art Relay, Mime, Board Room to Runway and Rhythm of Commerce. The events provided participants with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, communication, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving abilities.

The events were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Mr. Raj Kamal (Actor), Ms. Sneha K (Choreographer) , Ms. Madhumika Srinivasu (Actress), Mr. Navaneeth MS (Entrepreneur), Mr. Mugilan (Dancer), Ms. Deepna (Creative Entrepreneur, Makeup artist), Ms. Neeraja Rajendran (Corporate Professional), Mr. David Santhosh (Fashion model), Mr. Pravin Kumar (Fashion Model), Mr. Chen Zhao Hsing (Fashion Model), Mr. Surya (Chartered Accountant), Mr. Vinoth Murali (Dancer), Mr. Savan (Entrepreneur), A Bharaneeswari (Video Jockey) and Mr. Jayakumar (Photographer).

The symposium brought together students from different institutions, providing a platform for inter-collegiate interaction, healthy competition and experiential learning. Overall, COMMEX’26 – REIGNITE successfully created opportunities for students to develop their professional, creative and interpersonal abilities while strengthening their understanding of commerce and business.
